Why porcelain?
All the clay jewellery pieces at Bee Blore Jewellery are made from porcelain. It was chosen because of its strength, brilliantly white colour and impermeability. Porcelain is harder and denser than other ceramic clay’s, which means it has low porosity, making it more resistant to moisture.
What is porcelain?
Porcelain is a type of ceramic material made up of natural clay minerals. This means it does not contain any PVC plastic, unlike polymer clay. Porcelain has been used throughout history; it was first created in China and dates back to over 2,000 years ago. Porcelain has minimal waste, is a durable material and it can be recycled.
How do I look after my porcelain jewellery?
Porcelain is a hard, strong clay and is highly regarded for its durability. However it is still recommended you take care of it; if it strikes a hard surface with a lot of force it could smash – it is strong but not indestructible! If you need to clean it, simply wipe with a cloth or soft bristled brush and some warm soapy water.
Recycled silver
At Bee Blore Jewellery recycled silver is always used where possible. The term ‘where possible’ is used because there are some components that are not as accessible, or yet available in recycled silver. For example, the Faceted Mini Hoops are made from recycled silver except for the tiny stud post and earring back. The goal is for everything to be 100% recycled and this is something I am working towards.
Packaging
All Jewellery comes packaged neatly in a navy blue box. All boxes are made from 100% recycled materials apart from the ring boxes which are made from 99% recycled materials and are FSC approved.
